Traackr Proves Pay-For-Search Model
Traackr, an enterprise-grade people discovery engine, has developed a search product that helps leading brands execute effective influencer marketing initiatives. The subscription-based solution reinvents how businesses assess the value of targeted and persistent searches that make it possible to identify people based on the content they produce and the conversations they influence.
Since 2008, Traackr has bootstrapped the development of its robust people search technology, which indexes the web by author to find the most relevant people on any given topic. The technology was quickly adopted by digital marketing agencies and is now used by Fortune 500 brands as the foundation of their influencer marketing strategies.
To scale the business, Traackr today announced a $1.5 million funding round led by top Silicon Valley and international angel investors. The funds will be used to bulk up its technology team and expand its product offering to additional markets.
“When we first set out to build Traackr, our goal was to completely rethink search and focus it on people rather than web pages in order to discover the people and content most relevant to any given web search,” says Pierre-Loic Assayag, co-founder and CEO of Traackr. “Today marks a new chapter for our company as we’ve gone from validating our vision for a people-centered search engine to scaling our current business and exploring new markets.”
The round includes serial entrepreneur Robbie Vann-Adibé. “Traackr has done what many are talking about: building people search. We have proven that if a search is powerful enough, delivers enough value, and saves enough time, organizations and individuals are prepared to pay directly for a search – and that advertising revenue is not the only model for a search engine,” says Vann-Adibé who is also Chairman at Traackr.
